Pre-Season Game 2 Win vs. Blackstars

Our second game was a blow out resulting in some interesting line combinations that put many of our players in unfamiliar roles. This was obviously by design as we are not the type of club to run up the score plus it gives the players an opportunity to learn other positions.

The CatHat was awarded to Teo last night post game. With 4 assist and impressive defense, wicked shot and back checking when we had the occasional turn over. The team can take great comfort in this style of play and effort.

Sasha, being the number one star in our first outing, made the selection as this is our team post game ritual - the CatHat is passed on after each game requiring that the recipient observes their teams performance during the game and then makes the decision.

Second star of the game was awarded to Martin for not only the 2 goals and an assist, but for his locker room leadership, overall team spirit and positivity. We are not recognizing just goals and assists, but all attributes that help our team show up with class. Martin’s curiosity is infectious as he is always seeking clarity, insight and direction which is something highly valued with this team.

Our third star was awarded by coach Todd to Frits - thou he did not face many shots on goal, he stayed engaged the entire game and nearly got a shut out. A slight miss communication lead to a scrappy goal by the Blackstars, but overall Fritz played his usual solid game.

We played well, but also we were not challenged. This can result in a false sense of dominance which we will tamper through continued humility. We have many months to go and no doubt we will face adversity soon.

The scoring last night was wide spread with many contributing to the outcome. Have a look for yourself as it is more than I can possibly write today.
